Wow, it's memeapalooza! My dear friend Orieyenta tagged me for the 8 things meme.
The Rules are:
~ Each player lists 8 facts/habits about themselves.
~ The rules of the game are posted at the beginning before those facts/habits are listed.
~ At the end of the post, the player then tags 8 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.
So, let's think here.... I have shared pics of my teeth, confirmed how many times I've moved, what I really think about Three Fallen Women, discussed shampoo and vintage language in my answers to this meme, I've discussed not-snoring, my temper, fears, toys, reality television, singing in the shower, my laptop, travel, ozone, hunting, things I am allergic to, some of my nicknames, Santa Claus, my feeling about McDonald's, addiction, magic, and divorce in this meme, I've tackled salt, James Cameron's douchiness, Leonardo DiCaprio's inability to do an accent and my preference for art films in this meme, and meeting Bad Bad Leroy Brown, lube salsa I accidentally ate, hate crime, hair bands I have seen live, hardware stores and spiders in this meme, and my favorite reads in this meme. So, what eight things can I possibly share with you after all of that? I could probably talk about movies and music and, I dunno, life a bit, eh? Here goes:
1. Sleepwalk by Santo & Johnny, Never My Love by The Association, La Vie en Rose by Edith Piaf, And I Love Her by The Beatles, Cupid by Sam Cooke, Jesus, Etc. by Wilco, Love is Stronger Than Death by The The and Earth Angel by The Penguins are my semi-secret favorite schmaltzy songs and it makes me horribly happy to sing these at the top of my lungs while I'm cooking dinner or cleaning the house.
2. Though in my heart I'm a devoted punk/rock chick, I also have to admit that I just love music in general and love mellow western swing, opera and jazz a lot, too.
3. The following films make me cry like crazy: Places In The Heart, It's My Party, Longtime Companion, Paperclips, Big Fish, Life Is Beautiful, Or. I'm sure there are others, but that's all that came to mind this second.
4. I secretly want to sing in a band like Allison Krause meets The Sadies meets Portishead meets Neko Case.
5. Sometimes, I want to buy an old farmhouse and go hide from everyone on my little organic farm with a lot of cats. Maybe a few piggies, too. (Who am I kidding? I'd take in every animal that passed through if I had the space.) Sometimes, I want to move to Paris. Sometimes, I want to move to New Orleans. Sometimes, I want to move back to New York. Sometimes, I'm happy where I am. Sometimes I wonder if I'll ever be completely sold on living any one place.
6. My favorite songs to run to are: Black Friday Rule by Flogging Molly, Let Go by Frou Frou, Pulling Mussels From a Shell by Squeeze, Shambala by Beastie Boys, The Man Who Sold The World by Nirvana, Mirror In The Bathroom by The English Beat, Big Man With A Gun by Nine Inch Nails, No One's Leaving by Jane's Addiction, I'd Rather Dance With You by Kings of Convenience, November Spawned a Monster by Morrissey, Sinnerman by Nina Simone, There is No There by The Books, Just Another Day by Oingo Boingo, lately, The Birds Are Crying by Baby Teeth and if I really, really need to haul ass and get a long stretch of mileage run very fast, Ca Plane Pour Moi by Plastic Bertrand, Ana Ng by They Might Be Giants and First It Giveth by Queens of The Stone Age.
7. 23-26 were the toughest years of my life. But, I learned a lot from them. Well, Jr. High was pretty miserable, too, come to think of it, but I don't think I learned much other than popular kids are mean and people will do the stupidest thing possible if you give them the chance.
8. I love the words/expressions cowboy up, yes, great idea, auspicious, get some hair on your pole, peen, and sack punch, and can't stand the words/expressions rectify, vascillate, absolutely not, renal, down there, and this doesn't matter. I have trouble pronouncing the word wolf with any level of sophistication and it usually comes out sounding more like woof.
I tag: Pretty Pink Ink, Dondiroo, Skirmy, Schwartzeleh, Johnny Yen, Baconey-roo, V. and Craney-lamb.

I'm on it.
P.S. I tend to say "absolutely not" quite a bit (to my children).
P.P.S. My husband and I used Sleepwalk as our "first dance" song at out wedding.
Ha, good point. I had a semi-nanny gig for a while and I think I said "absolutely not" every five minutes. I hear ya. Mostly, "absolutely not" hurts my ears as response to "I have this great idea...." or "I want to write about...." or "Let's eat a big bowl of..." or "Let's go drink a bottle of..."... har.
I love this meemish, girl! portishead, sinnerman (love nina simone). similarities bursting at the seams. sometimes I look at farms in upstate new york and think the same thing. so funny...
will do it tonight. I was going to tag you and salt for the same meemish that virgotext tagged me with. news?!
#1 - Except the two that I don't know (because they were made after 1966!), you have demonstrated with this list that we must get together and play records some day. I'm amazed that anyone still remembers Earth Angel!
La Vie en Rose by Edith Piaf?
I am now hopelessly in love with you.
Had you listed "Earth Angel" by The Vogues, I would be permanently affixed to your calf.
Why have both 'comment moderation' AND 'word verification'?
Redundant, innit?
Sterculian Rhetoric, um, thanks...? As for the comment moderation and word verification, I say it's not redundant at all. WV blots out most of the spammers, but sometimes a comment is too vile to publish. And if I say a comment is vile, it's really bad, ha!
Love it...and love the links to some of your other memes. (It will give me something to do when I am bored at work!)
Love your music always...think you should make an iMix (or 2 or 10!)
I will do it... but I've been avoiding my office because it's hella hot in here. That's right. I said hella.
