"THEN I'LL TELL YOU THE STORY OF MY LIFE"
I saved this meme to do when a had a sec, and now I can't seem to recall who tagged me for it. Eh well. Whoever it was, thanks and here are your answers to Five Things.
1. When you go to the grocery store, you know how the bottom of the reciept says somethng like you saved $4.51 cents? Right. Well, I then go home and transfer $4.51 into my savings account. How geeky is that?
2. I love scaring he shit out of myself with ghost stories, shows, books, etc. and I'm pretty sure I've lived in a few iffy places.
3. If my feet a hot, I'm way too hot and fidgetey. Come to think of it, I fidget a lot in general, just moreso when my feet are hot.
4. I'd rather a small, tidy home furnished and decorated with well-made, solid things I love and can be proud of, than a giant, showy house with matchey things I have no connection to.
5. I secretly like to learn the botanical/pharmaceutical/tech/scientific name of everyday things but I get so annoyed when people say those things in place of the common name inappropriately, just to encourage questions.

that's geeky but cute.
ghosts freak me out! hot feet make me crazy!
I guess you got the hot feet thing from me. I usually have them sticking out from under the covers at night. Just a note. Your dad sleeps in socks now because his feet are too cold. I think we did a "Thermal Reversal" somewhere along the line!
Read Susan Susanka's book,"The Not So Big House". She is all into this smaller is so much better thing. Smart lady. Makes a lot of sense.

Good stuff. Y'know, I often know the technical name and when people do that I used to make a comment such that it would be clear that I know what they are talking about. They always smerked and repeated what they had just said hoping for the question - so annoying.
I especially like #2. We're all like that in our family. I once lived in an apartment in Rogers Park, long since torn down, and it was a really bad experience. I only lived there for about 6 or 8 weeks, and the place had a horrible vibe, and I had a horrible roommate who turned out to be mentally ill. Anyway, late one afternoon in our living room, with the sun shining in the windows just so, we could see writing bleeding through the single coat of landlord white that the slumlord had coated the walls with. It was a suicide note scrawled on the wall by a past tenant, now showing through the paint.
